Broad, glittering purple-red petioles support large, dark green with red veins, very corrugated, fleshy leaves. Tall (8-10 inches (20.32-25.4 cm)) stems, tender and juicy. Plants reach 22 inches (55.88 cm), and 55 days after germination are ready to harvest. Energetic lush bunches of this chard grow very quickly, require regular cutting. It is well tolerated by high temperature and light frost if given adequate watering. It grows best in full sun but tolerates partial shade.
