Carrot Night Bird

Hybrid purple carrot. Contains provitamin A, anthocyanins, which give the roots a purple color that is preserved during cooking. This carrot has a bright, deep purple skin and juicy tender pulp with contrasting shades of orange. Spicy, sweet fruits with a nutty flavor. Elongated, cone roots grow to 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) in length. Heat resistant. Carrot juice can be used as the colorant. Outdoors: sow thinly, March-July, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Allow 20cm (8") between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Thin by harvesting young carrots evenly from the row, allowing remainder to grow on. Water well until plants are established. Harvest: June-October.
