An unusual variety from the USA. The germination period is 85-100 days. The fruits are oval-elongated, with smooth pinkish skin, weighing 8-10 kg. The pulp is orange in color with an unusual, pleasant banana flavor. Valued for the taste and the long storage. Suitable for making cereals, purees, soups, and candied fruits, for freezing and preserving in the form of jam. Sow indoors for surest results, April-May, 1.5cm (½") deep, on edge, in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 1.2m (4') apart, into fertile, well-drained soil, during May-June when frosts are over. Or sow outdoors, May-June for ease, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, fertile, well-drained soil, which has already been watered. Allow 1.2m (4') between positions. Sow two seeds on edge per position. Thin to leave the stronger plant. Water well until plants are established. Harvest: September-November.
